At first, you may want to start out simple. Tell yourself , “Hey,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], nice job of brushing those teeth!” or “Wow, good driving!” on the way to work. Take moments throughout the day to congratulate yourself for things you do well.
After a while we have no room for any more feelings. We may find ourselves reacting to everything around us by turning to food. We don’t acknowledge our pain, so we don’t do anything to alleviate our growing desperation. We think food is the problem, when in fact, we have substituted food for a deeper problem—and it’s just not working anymore. We find ourselves trapped in a cycle with no way to break free.
Breaking the Cycle
At the beginning of our eating disorder, we successfully managed to block out troubling feelings by occupying our mind with thoughts of food or thinness. The problem with this is that as our feelings get stuffed down over and over again, the internal pressure builds. We don’t exercise other methods of coping, and soon food becomes our only coping mechanism. We become hard-wired to turn to our disorder whenever a feeling comes up.
In time, these repetitive affirmations will begin a new cycle of behavior. This practice of nurturing or “reparenting” yourself will help you become more attuned to your internal dialog and avoid those negative influences. You can work with yourself instead of against yourself. The body was designed to work in conjunction with your appetite by eating when you are hungry and stopping when you are full. You can get back in touch with this innate ability.
We can also use food to procrastinate; to avoid some action or responsibility that needs to be taken care of or just to get through the mundane, boring tasks of daily life. We may even recognize that food has become our best friend and our source of comfort. But inside, we feel like we have an empty hole inside us,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and no amount of food seems to make us feel whole and complete.
Food can also serve as a distraction. For instance, we may have been told at the doctor’s office that if we didn’t cry when we got a shot, we would be rewarded with a lollypop. Therefore, we focused on getting the lollypop instead of feeling the fear or pain of the needle. We effectively blocked the pain and focused on the reward, the sugar. Is it any wonder that later in life when we experience pain, emotional or physical,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that we think a candy bar will make us feel better?
To get down to the root cause, we need to identify why we are turning to food or to an obsessive restriction of food. Then we can take action to deal with this underlying cause. You can break the cycle at any point—and the cycle does break. All you need to start recovering is the willingness to change, to open your mind to a different approach.
Our thoughts are the first link to our actions. If we want to reach out our hand, our mind has to tell our arm to move. So we must identify the thoughts that trigger the unwanted act of eating when we are not physically hungry or denying ourselves food when we are hungry. Armed with this knowledge,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we can find suitable substitutes. Starting with small steps, through the use of repetition, we can form new habits.
People with disordered eating have developed the habit of relying on food to cope with life situations. They use food as a means to displace or “stuff down” uncomfortable feelings or thoughts. They may use food to avoid some part of life by grazing or eating all day. This is called compulsive overeating. Some may binge, eating large amounts of food in a short time. Binge eating usually starts in response to a diet. Others may restrict their food intake with a rigid diet until they become so malnourished that they cannot think clearly or function physically, and until their long-term health,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or even their life itself, is endangered. This is anorexia. Still others may overeat, and then get rid of the food. This is bulimia.
So GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK! You have spent too much energy negatively criticizing yourself in the past. Why do you fail to acknowledge the many good things you accomplish in a day,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]? It is time to start congratulating yourself for things well done!
What Is Disordered Eating?
Disordered eating is not just about food. The primary thing that keeps a person trapped in the illness is FEAR: fear of getting fat, fear of rejection, fear of being found out, fear of abandonment, fear of being controlled, or fear of feeling. By concentrating on the illness,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], weight, diet, or body image, one can avoid the fear and numb the feelings.
The Cycle
Focus on the intention to live your life with confidence and self-acceptance. Find things to appreciate and enjoy. Positive self-talk can break the cycle and free you from the need to use food as a substitute for living a full life.
We may associate happy occasions, holidays,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and celebrations with food. We then look to food to recapture the feelings of togetherness, love, and joy that we felt on those special occasions. We may have been told we can have dessert if we are good or if we eat everything on our plate. Thus, dessert became a reward, an acknowledgement of success. We trudge through a hard day at work knowing a reward awaits us at the end of the day.
Because we automatically use food, we cannot discover what is truly disturbing us. If we are not conscious of these associations,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the first step in changing them is awareness. We can’t change something if we are not even aware of it.
A mental obsession with food,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], weight,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], diet, or body image has profound effects on our self-esteem, relationships, finances, daily activities, and quality of life. People often become depressed or anxious because of their eating patterns.
We pick up so many associations between food and behavior early in life. Some are life enhancing, and some have become subconscious,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], core beliefs that interfere with our life today. We may be using food to cope with the stress in our lives. But, in time, our destructive eating behavior actually makes the stress worse. We find that we have less time and less energy.
In recovery it is important to realize that we have done the best we could up to this point. Negative self-criticism about previous actions only perpetuates the cycle. The solution is to recognize that there is a relationship between our emotions and our eating behaviors. Destructive eating behaviors are just a symptom of the problem, not its root cause.
We develop patterns of behavior early in life. We start associating certain events with certain behaviors. One such pattern is our behavior with food. Being fed by our parents when we were young may come to represent being cared for or being loved. On the other hand, not being fed when we were hungry may have produced a deep insecurity about whether there would be enough food in the future.

As soon as possible come to the conclusion that NANO Yoga is something that you are going to do for the rest of your life. We start with 7 repetitions ( feeling count: right thumb-right index finger-right middle finger ) of the postures in this book for the first month. The second month we do 14 repetitions ( feeling count: index finger of the left hand- index, middle, ring and pinkie of the right hand ). Only after 2 months do we try to do the full 21 repetitions (Feeling count: index and middle finger of the left hand-index finger of the right hand ).
During the practice of NANO Yoga we want to keep the mind as still as possible to allow our dormant mental capabilities to awaken and begin to shape the balance of our lives. We will talk about "dormant mental capabilities" later. For now, we want to learn to keep track of our postures without counting.
Focused breathing means listen to and feel your breath; both inhale and exhale. It is OK to inhale thru the mouth; but for now,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we want to begin the practice of inhaling thru the nose and exhaling thru the mouth. Try this practice. Lay on your bed or the floor. Place your hands on the navel. Inhale thru the nose lifting up the area of the navel. as you exha;le thru the mouth, the navel and hands will fall. Repeat this breathing exercise a few times until you get the hang of it. This style of breathing is called "diaphramatic breathing" and is very beneficial to every system in the body. This method supplies air to the lower part of the lungs wher more of the oxygen exhange takes place between the lungs and the arteries which carry the oxygen to the rest of the body. During this process, we are detoxing every time we exhale. By exhaling thru the mouth we don't trap any of our toxins in the cilia of the nose. By exhaling this way, we do a more efficient job of cleaning the inside of our body.
Here are the postures we use while practicing NANO Yoga,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Some people refer to them as the 5 Tibetans or the Rights of rejuvenation. We takes those postures forward into a deeper and more fullfilling practice.
When practicing an asana class if we experience a few seconds of yoga ( the ultimate meshing of the spirit in the mind and body) we indeed are priveledged. That is the defintion of Nano Yoga. We need only a few seconds a day to lay a foundation for the next 24 hours. We all practice Yoga for a reason. Those reasons vary from individual to individual. The result,; however, is the same. The confines of our individual capabilities are overridden by the healing capabilities of Yoga. As we know,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we are still bound by the mortality and fraility of the human condition, but the meshing that occurs during Yoga allows all of us the experience life to the best of our abilities. Yoga is a natural life force and is available to us sometimes without even practicing asana. What has been discovered over time is that an asana class or a course on pranayama or meditation is the same as having a map to our destination. Those practices make it easier to get there.
As you are learning these exercises if you skip a couple of days; just pick up where you left off. Your persistence will pay off big time.
Early practicioners of meditation found that by doing a few asanas or focused breathing practices, that the state of meditation was easier to achieve. We know that something is different and pleasant and that we want more of it.
Think of NANO Yoga as taking a bath or a shower for the inside of our body. However often you take a regular bath or shower is how often you do NANO Yoga. Daily would be great; however, that is not always possible. Skipping a day or two does not ruin it.

The Kia New Spectra have been shown to be the safest of any new small or mid-sized Korean car.

Its like the ultimate romantic relationship, with a few terrifyingly destructive aspects thrown in. Your teen is beginning to experience the hormonal, social, and mental agony of changing from a child into a teen,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and that first drink just plain feels good. Like the caress of a new lover, alcohol wraps up their insecurities in gentle fuzziness and quiets their fears. They can suddenly find a way to strike up a conversation with that boy or girl who has been catching their eye. And the internal confusion is hidden behind a curtain of a drug that is more addictive than any other.

If you discover your teen is drinking, don't wait and hope it doesn't become a problem. That romance by alcohol is addictive. Feeling temporarily better just plain feels good, and your teen doesn't have the emotional and mental maturity to know when to stop. Get help early!
Start early. The average age of a first drink for boys is 11, for girls is 13. Does that surprise you? At that age, your pre-teen's brain development is just beginning, and damage from alcohol can be irreversible. I've had parents write to me of their pain when discovering that their teenager has been drinking, asking for help and sometimes wishing they could simply package up that child until he reached the age of adulthood. He has a great life, I've done everything I could for him, he has nearly everything he wants, why would he turn to alcohol?

Tools to help your teen say NO to alcohol
Pay attention to your own issues. In parenting, modeling is more powerful than teaching. Are you showing your teen how to walk through tough issues without going into denial or using a substance? If you have alcohol in your home, how often have you said,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "Oh my goodness I had such a hard day - I need a glass of wine"? If you have deeper issues that need attention, let your teen in on the secret of how you find healing and your process of growth.

Not one of those teens started out with a determination to experience the devastating effects of alcohol addiction! From beer-pong parties to copying the behavior of older siblings or even of parents, teens are inundated with messages that say its ok, even fun,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to drink alcohol. Those emotional issues that nearly all teens struggle with - like feeling insecure and afraid, feeling misunderstood, being victimized by bullying and dysfunctional family systems, depression and even more serious mental health issues - all are made better temporarily by taking a drink of alcohol. That first drink calms fear,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], reduces social anxiety, provides a setting for inclusiveness for the outcast and quiets the mental demons for those struggling with deeper issues.
Be involved. Know your teen's friends. Participate with your teen in activities that don't involve drinking. Help your teen discover their talents and interests.
But your teen is in emotional pain. When lover alcohol comes along promising to remove that pain, most teens say yes.

And so, in order to help women overcome this pressure, I think its important for girls to understand the false messages put forth in these advertisements. Aside from the unrealistic notion of ‘physical perfection’, which is mainly accomplished with Photoshop,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there seems to be a growing trend of minimizing women as sex objects, as just ‘tits’ and ‘ass’, with the sole purpose of sexually gratifying men, rather than depicting them as complex human beings. Whether it is the half-naked vodka girl or the latest celebrity bombshell, in almost every media outlet, there seems to be this nearly unattainable standard of beauty that challenges the way women think of themselves.
My issue is not really with the images themselves; they are naturally all things intended, sexual, provocative etc. Instead,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], my issue lies more in the fact that young women are using these images, created by a male dominated/ money-hungry media, to define their own standards of beauty. Known for her decades of commitment against the death penalty Sister Helen Prejean visited Korea to join a death penalty abolishment campaign. The author and real life protagonist of the movie "Dead Man Walking,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," a chronicle that addressed the controversy of capital punishment visited Korea on Friday to join a death penalty abolishment campaign currently underway in the country.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the Catholic Bishop's Conference of Korea,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Nobel Peace Prize nominee,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], whose life has been devoted to abolishing capital punishment after witnessing an electric chair execution said she opposes the death penalty because it violates human dignity.

A total of 60 people have been sentenced to death in Korea since the current administration took office in 1998 although no executions have actually been carried out. You have to carefully follow the right method of obtaining brain empowerment so that you may really evolve.

When you’ll eliminate your false impressions, and you’ll stop being a slave of your demanding ego, you’ll be able to learn the truth as it is; without distortions. Today you follow many misconceptions, and you are eluded by many myths.

In this world of constant change, self identification has changed too. Who shapes your thoughts, words,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], feelings and actions? Our larger community for so many years has trained us to look to the “authority” for our answers, but now that world is caught in the same chaos we are; have you find yourself distracted by the system in which we live? Has the truth inside your being been over looked; who has your answers in this chaotic change?

So many people tell me that their mind is just too busy and they can’t meditate, they’re just too distracted thinking about their situation, job, the kids, dinner, and a steady stream of thoughts with no end. Yes, we all have powerful minds, as a society we have developed a strong left brain prowess. I like to tell people to see that powerful left brain thinking as a channel,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], just like a TV channel and to simply turn the dial on those channels to a quieter channel where they can simply listen and be.

So I don’t go to work from a place of “the World is Broken and we have to fix it”; my attitude of co-creation allows for the fact that the world is right here, right now, exactly as we make it, no one is right, no one is wrong. It takes some practice to allow yourself to turn that dial, but when you do its well worth the experience, because when you do, you discover that you are not all those thoughts, nor those situations.
Your inner self talk maybe the most important conversation you will ever have. But who are you listening to? Your left brain is the intellectual side of your brain and even though it’s solution oriented it doesn’t see the bigger picture, the right side is heartfelt, compassionate, caring, yet discernment is extremely important in the “big picture” of life, you really want to engage both sides of your brain,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and include your heart, body and soul to have complete integration of a full mind-body-soul experience of yourself.
When you go within to meditate you de-stress your stress load, you open to your own creativity and connect to a deeper part of yourself. This emergence is only the beginning of what I like to call “Place of Peace” this now becomes your foundation for self expression. From your place of peace interconnectedness of all the parts of yourself take place, remarkable inner strength and confidence become yours as a genuine inner will power emerges and you begin to listen to your own heart.
And what is the rest of the world doing today, well it seems to be changing, shifting and being anything but stable. If you hop on board that idea, then you align yourself with moving, changing, shifting and being anything but stable; for me that’s crazy making. Meditation allows you to be confident inside yourself while the rest of the world is expressing their selves any way they want.

You’ve been waiting for, now is the time to act, this is your hour!
There is a freedom in this awareness that is so liberating that even trauma, drama and stress just fall away. I meditate every day, usually starting my day with meditation, breathing into my body, I do a practice called the “Daily Morning Clearing” centering myself, I begin to integrate my body, heart , mind and soul. Integrating all the parts of me is the key to existing in life as a “whole person”.
Starting fresh every morning releases you from the mental anguish that you may find yourself in from day to day such as; fear, worry, doubt, “Am I good enough”. So you’re listening starts with your inner self talk, you want to think about yourself as well, what do you want to think about yourself today; peaceful, capable,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], confident… as you think of yourself as these things walk, talk and take action from this awareness knowing that they are where yourself expression is today. Breathe, look and feel confident, peaceful and capable because you are “being confident, peaceful, and capable” in your core, believe it, feel it, know it, think it and be it.
Step 3- Practice every day!
Where would you like to go from here? What is happening for you right now? Is community ever present within you? Stay with that, focus on what’s important to you now; feel the words that express what you’d like to share of yourself in every given situation. Be the expression of those words, feel it, convey it in your actions and thoughts until you’ve got it, be the creator of your own reality, navigate life from your own personal expression, the people in your community will get it as the person you choose to be emerges.
Our thoughts can very powerfully shape the way we see ourselves in the world. Within the context of our thoughts the first directive is, just let them go. We are not our thoughts. The being that lives inside your body is not a collection of thoughts, we create thoughts to help shape and direct our world,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you are their creator, you’re not at their mercy; and so in meditation just let them go. This is the place to start fresh,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and be the creative being that lives inside your body.
Try applying this core attitude to everything that shows up in your life, any given day. For myself, I go to work, from my place of peace, from co-creation and success; I share that peace with the people I work with everyday. By being “Peaceful” they feel and experience peace while they are with me and perhaps carry it with them throughout their day; sharing peace, confidence and capable with whomever they meet.
So often we forget to bring our soul into our body; without it we are not integrated. Our Soul is the pathway to higher consciousness within ourselves. As you bring your soul into your body; it begins to settle into its rightful place inside you, in the core of your body, along the central vertical axis of your body. This resting place for your Soul has always been there, you just may not have been aware of it until now. Your Soul is there to integrate with your body, heart and mind; blending all these parts of yourself into one whole being.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) can be more intense than just the normal ”winter blues” that many experience. It has been legitimized by the National Institute of Health and American Psychological Association as a documented mood disorder. The criteria for diagnosing SAD are; significant changes in mood leading to depression during a particular time of year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a remission of mood changes and depression during a particular time of year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], patterns that have occurred for at least two years with no major depressive episodes outside of winter months,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and must outnumber other depressive episodes throughout a person’s lifetime.
People suffering from SAD can have increased stress and anxiety and elevated feelings of hopelessness. The lack of sunlight can make them want to sleep for longer periods of time and become lethargic. They can have lower energy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], motivation and concentration. The extreme depression can cause them to avoid social situations for fear of rejection. People with this disorder can also have increased cravings for sweets and carbohydrates leading to weight gain.
There is no “cure” for SAD but there are several treatment options. When used in combination, they can help alleviate symptoms. Because of the decrease in in the “feel good” hormone serotonin,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], antidepressants such as SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) are often prescribed. People who are reluctant to risk the side effects of antidepressants may seek alternative treatments.

The bulbs or light boxes trick the pineal gland into thinking that it is daylight and helps the regulation of serotonin and melatonin,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
